AdCheckMe helps you read the explanations that ad platforms provide, understand common targeting methods, and find privacy controls you can change. The starting point is a familiar question: why did that ad reach me?

Luis created AdCheckMe to make ad targeting easier to understand for the people receiving the ads. The site is an independent project. It is not owned by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Google or Meta.

Start with a disclosure. End with a choice.

The guided explainer starts with the information shown by Google, Facebook, or Instagram. Select the categories their explanation actually mentions, and see what they mean, what they do not establish, and which settings are worth reviewing.

Your selections stay in the page’s memory. AdCheckMe cannot see your ad, inspect your account, or reconstruct the exact decision that made an ad appear. If the platform does not give enough information, the explainer says so.

Practical reading, without the jargon.

Our guides cover topics such as contextual advertising, retargeting, location, repeated ads, and the limits of private browsing. The controls directory points to the settings and help pages maintained by the platforms themselves.

Examples are fictional and labeled. They illustrate how a system can work; they are not claims about your activity or a diagnosis of any specific ad.

How the site is made

AdCheckMe uses AI assistance for research, writing, and development. Guides link to primary sources and distinguish platform descriptions from our explanations. A source-check date does not mean that a human expert has reviewed the page. Our editorial policy explains the review and corrections process.

How the site may be supported

We intend to support AdCheckMe with clearly labeled advertising on eligible guides after approval and editorial review. Educational examples are separate from paid advertisements. Advertising does not buy a place in our recommendations or change the explanation of a privacy control.
